I worked for decades in state government. A co-worker was alleged to have jumped out a 24th story window and died. Local news reported it – in such a way 99% of the details were wrong. Said he died – but they misused all the details. Like his name was John Edward Jones – everyone knew him as John. So news said his name was Edward. He had been out of college for 25 years, so news told he was working – at his 1st job he had gotten while in college. And he killed himself because he could not find a better job.

Made me wonder about honest reporting. Then went to another agency. Our Public Affairs officer, said in a conference meeting, that we had a local office in every district in the state – and we hired people in every location, that were connected to elected officials or we did business in those locations with businesses owned by elected officais. He said all News reports were sent to him for him to “correct” any error before the article was releeased to the public. And that no News outlet didnt do this.
