Is Mamdani’s Rise in New York City the Beginning of the Fall of Babylon the Great?

Let’s get it out of the way up front that I am not saying New York City is definitively “Babylon the Great” from the Book of Revelation, Chapter 18. In fact, I believe other cities — perhaps Rome, Dubai, or even a future global capital — are more likely to be the prophetic city that “is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils.”

With that said, it cannot be ignored that the rise of Zohran Mamdani as the very likely next mayor of New York City will propel the Big Apple into a state of confusion and moral decay. It will become even more of a breeding ground for evil. And that’s not just his adherence to Marxism — it’s his open embrace of the Red-Green Alliance, the increasingly powerful fusion of Marxism and political Islam.

This alliance, born out of shared hatred for Western civilization and Christian morality, is now poised to take the reins of America’s largest city. It is a movement that cloaks itself in compassion for the oppressed, yet always leads to the same outcomes: destruction of the family, censorship of faith, and the subversion of truth.

Mamdani, a self-described democratic socialist and member of the Democratic Socialists of America, has already made his ideology clear. He supports abolishing the NYPD as we know it, replacing policing with community “justice” programs inspired by radical activism. He pushes for taxpayer-funded housing for all, open borders, and “solidarity” with anti-Israel movements. As mayor, his agenda would not only remake New York — it would serve as a blueprint for the next phase of the leftist revolution across America.

But beneath the politics lies a deeper spiritual conflict. Scripture tells us that Babylon — the symbolic “city of man” in rebellion against God — would be marked by luxury, arrogance, sexual immorality, and spiritual deception. New York City fits that description in many ways. It is a city that once represented opportunity and innovation but now often embodies rebellion, pride, and moral confusion. When political leaders like Mamdani rise to power, they do not bring healing to such a city — they amplify its descent.

The Red-Green Alliance Mamdani represents is not merely a coalition of convenience. Marxism denies God entirely; Islam, in its political form, denies the divinity of Christ and replaces God with Allah. Together, they create a system perfectly suited to resist the Gospel and silence those who proclaim it. History has shown what happens when these ideologies gain control: persecution, suppression of truth, and moral collapse.

The Prophet Isaiah warned of nations that “call evil good and good evil.” Under Mamdani’s leadership, New York would likely expand its attacks on traditional morality, Christian conscience, and biblical order. Abortion, sexual confusion, and anti-family policies would not only persist — they would be elevated as moral imperatives. Public funds would be redirected to ideological indoctrination. Churches that refuse to bow to progressive dogma would find themselves marginalized, perhaps even penalized under “anti-hate” laws.

The spiritual picture is unmistakable: a city that once lit the world with freedom and opportunity now teeters on the edge of spiritual darkness. It is not about one man alone. Mamdani’s rise reflects the deeper transformation of the city — a shift from reverence to rebellion, from liberty to licentiousness, from truth to delusion.

Could New York eventually become the Babylon of prophecy? Perhaps not — but it may serve as a pattern, a warning, and a symbol. Revelation 18 describes Babylon as a global hub of commerce and corruption, where “all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich through the abundance of her delicacies.”

Over the decades, New York City has embodied these negative principles, at least in the eyes of some.

If Mamdani does take power, New York’s descent into ideological and spiritual confusion may accelerate. Yet even in this darkness, the Church must not despair. God allows Babylon to rise only so that He can judge it. And those who remain faithful — who refuse to bow to the idols of ideology and cultural compromise — are called to “come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins.”

This is the hour for discernment. Christians in New York and across America must recognize what is happening — not merely as politics, but as a spiritual battle for the soul of the nation. As Babylon rises, so too must the remnant. And no matter what happens in New York or any other city, the Kingdom of God will endure long after the empires of men have fallen.
