UFC CEO and long-time friend of Donald Trump, Dana White, has joined Meta’s board of directors alongside Charlie Songhurst and John Elkann. This is just the latest in a series of decisions Meta has made following Trump’s historic electoral victory which seemed to be aimed at cozying up to the soon-to-be president. Meta and Trump don’t exactly have the best history and it seems like the former is trying to patch things up now that it’s become clear they can’t just beat the MAGA movement into submission.

In Meta’s press release announcing the new members of its board, White said:
“I’ve never been interested in joining a board of directors until I got the offer to join Meta’s board. I am a huge believer that social media and AI are the future. I am very excited to join this incredible team and to learn more about this business from the inside. There is nothing I love more than building brands, and I look forward to helping take Meta to the next level.”
Meanwhile, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, now politically independent, has expressed a desire to make Facebook and Instagram more open to conservative voices. Following controversies surrounding the suppression of the Hunter Biden laptop story and Covid content, Zuckerberg admitted to facing pressure from the Biden-Harris regime to censor posts. In a letter to the House Judiciary Committee, he claimed that the regime expressed frustration when Meta resisted these demands, further spotlighting tensions between the company and political figures.
