In an interview following the race, Frank – who wore a rainbow bra despite having the physique of a male athlete – exclaimed he used “Girl power!” to finish the race and gushed he was excited his son was having a baby, saying, “I’m going to be a granny.” Following the event, Frank was criticized by two-time Olympic runner Mara Yamauchi, who asserted he’d deprived thousands of female runners of the spot.
