State Department Identifies Dsa as Willing Vector of Cuban Influence in U.S.

In this Just the News article, Steven Richards reports that the State Department has identified the Democratic Socialists of America as a willing vector of Cuban Communist influence in the United States through deep organizational ties, official delegations, and ideological alignment with the regime.

A State Department report released Monday details Cuba’s decades-long campaign to “make the revolution” inside the United States and singles out the DSA for its role as a willing conduit of that influence.
The DSA formally joined the National Network on Cuba in 2019, an umbrella group that works directly with the Cuban Institute of Friendship with Peoples (ICAP), which the State Department sanctioned in June for supporting Cuban intelligence and counterintelligence activities.
DSA began sending official delegations to Cuba in 2022 and, by 2023, met with Vice Foreign Minister Carlos F. de Cossio, other ministry officials under Cuba’s armed forces, and President Miguel Diaz-Canel for more than two hours.
Delegates explicitly sought to establish formal channels of communication with Cuban organizations, ministries, and the ruling Communist Party of Cuba.
The organization created a Cuba Solidarity Working Group, formalized lobbying efforts against the U.S. embargo, and escalated public attacks on American policy toward the island.
DSA raises money through its “Venceremos Fund” to finance anti-imperialist activities, including foreign delegations, naming the fund after the Venceremos Brigade long identified by U.S. intelligence as co-opted by Cuban services.
The Venceremos Brigade is now primarily funded by the People’s Forum, part of wealthy Marxist Neville Singham’s network that the State Department also links to Cuba’s influence operations.
Unlike other Cuba-backed groups that require direction, the DSA’s native far-left ideology already mirrors the Cuban regime’s interests, making it a ready-made vehicle for Havana’s agenda.
