Former President Donald Trump stands well ahead of his declared and prospective rivals in the key primary state of South Carolina.
Former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, who also served as the state’s governor, has challenged Trump for the Republican nomination, while South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott announced Wednesday that he would explore his own bid.
Nonetheless, Trump leads the pair on their home turf, earning the support of 41% of respondents in a Winthrop University poll, released Wednesday. Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis, who has not announced his intentions as a campaign, came in second with 20% support while Haley received 18% and 7% backed Scott.
