    AI has been oversold. There is no way AI is going to replace a moderately intelligent human. AI does not think outside the box. It’s just a typical search engine output formatted in somewhat complete sentences. Not a big deal. I played a star trek game on the main frame in college in the 1970’s that had intelligent sounding responses no better than what “AI” does. Everything is being called AI today including stuff that is decades old. They claimed my new washing machine was AI.
    In 2000 fiber optic was the new craze and they put in way too much. Companies went bankrupt. Same is going to happen with AI and data centers. They are over building. And don’t forget the dotcom craze and the bankruptcies. And green companies. All hyped up junk to get investors to blow cash. The only money to be made is the construction projects. Once construction is done there is no money to be made with the completed project. That is true for battery plants, public solar generators, ethanol, etc. They are just looking for that government money for the construction project.
    On a slightly different topic. Constant dollar wages are less than one half what they were in 1980. I graduated in engineering in 1980. My starting salary, when corrected for inflation was more than my salary at retirement. H-1Bs have driven down wages. Low skilled immigration has driven down wages. And outsourcing. Low wages is not Trump’s fault. It started in the early 1990’s and has been ongoing for 35 years. Yet I see young people complaining about not being able to afford living and blaming it on Trump. This low wage trend started before they were born and not just a mere 9 months ago when Trump was elected.
